What colour of LED strip light would be the best for the bathroom?

The arrangement of the bathroom and the selection of appropriate fittings and equipment also include lighting. Therefore, when designing your bathroom you need to pay attention how the room is lit both in the morning and evening. We can can find classic light bulbs, halogen lamps, and nowadays more popular LED lamps in our homes. How do you choose the colour of LEDs so that the lighting fulfils so that the correct ambience is created.

What LED colours can you use in your bathroom?
In practice, three shades of light colours can be used differ: cold (6000-6500 K), neutral (4000-4500 K) and warm (2800-3200 K).

Research has shown that in rooms that are associated primarily with rest, relaxation and tranquillity, warmer colours of light work best. On the other hand, where life is dynamic, and the rooms are associated with work, cold colours would be a better choice.

A lot also depends on the design of the room. Warmer colours work well in interiors with wooden or wood-based elements, while cooler shades suits a more modern design.

When planning your lighting, try to balance your intensity and colour to achieve the correct atmosphere in the room. Bathroom decor is often associated with relaxation, but on the other hand, there’re times when time is of the essence. Then, the selection of the correct type of lighting and its positioning are important.

How do you choose the correct lighting output for the bathroom?

Optimal lighting usually consist of two or three light sources.

These include the main and auxiliary lighting mirror, cabinets, or bathtub. It is assumed that for every square meter of space, you should provide 5 W of primary lighting output.

For 5 Watt concealed spot lamps (halogen) or two LED 10 Watt LED lamps will work. If you have decorated your bathroom with for example black tiles, then you should consider using an additional light source.

You should try to avoid combining the contrasting colours. The use of a lamp that emits warm light as the main source and the addition of cold lighting to auxiliaries causes visual chaos and is hard on the eyes.

Mirror area
When installing lighting surrounding the mirror, it is worth choosing LED lamps with a neutral colour. As a result, the lighting does not discolour the skin’s natural complexion and gives you a more accurate representation of how your make up will look in natural daylight. When buying an LED strip, pay attention to the CRI colour rendering index, which should be above 90. If we focus on comfort in the bathroom, warm coloured LED lighting can be used by the mirror. It enhances the feeling of warmth and relaxation, but at the same time does not change the tone of the skin enough to make the exact application of cosmetics a big problem.

If you want to enhance the lighting in a bathroom you can use strip lights mounted under the bath top or along the edge of the cabinets. For this purpose, IP68 tapes are the best solution; they will create a subtle atmosphere, and are resistant to moisture. This is a popular solution used to create a complementary source of lighting that brightens the room.

Why exactly LED?

Against the background of classic lighting or popular halogen lamps, LED bulbs are distinguished by low energy consumption and lifespan (they work up to 25 times longer than standard bulbs). They also use universal threads that will fit almost any housing. LEDs do not heat up as much as ordinary light bulbs, and lamps with a power of 4-6 W correspond to the intensity of light generated by an ordinary fluorescent lamp with a power of 40-50 W.

Colour is not the only thing that matters.
Although LED lamps are an excellent choice for bathroom lighting, not every model will be suitable for it. Why? We must remember that, even in a well ventilated bathroom equipped with underfloor heating and efficient air exchange, condensation sometimes accumulates. Condensation settles not only on glass and plastic surfaces but also on lamps and light switches. Therefore, when choosing lighting for the bathroom, pay attention to the manufacturer’s IP (Ingress Protection) marking. It is an international standard for the resistance of electrical devices to moisture and dust.

There are 3 IP standards. IP 20 is used in the dryer areas I.e. more than 600 mm from a potential source of moisture. IP44 is used for lighting less than 600mm from the potential source of moisture. IP68 is used for lighting that is installed directly in the shower tray or washbasin.

You can create whatever type of atmosphere you want by choosing the correct lighting for the bathroom, which is where we can help you.

Whichever type of atmosphere you wish to create we have the light fittings to create it.

From now on, you can alter the mood of your bathroom at a reasonable cost. It can be done using an indirect lighting scheme to create the ambience you require. With our new selection of the dedicated LED strip lights you can achieve this. They are just 4mm or 6mm wide, flexible and 100% waterproof. Our strips can be used instead insulation grout between: bath, basin, walls, and floor. You can even create an amazing light path in the floor replacing some tile grout with our strips. Of course you can create the entire downlighting scheme, using the more traditional LED strip lights mounted using the aluminium profile system.

How to choose LED lighting for the wardrobe?

A well-lit wardrobe makes choosing your daily outfit easier, as the colour of your clothes is more accurately represented.

Adequate lighting in a dressing room is most important for accurate colour reproduction.

What lighting do you have for your wardrobe?

The best type of lighting for wardrobes is LED lighting. Subtle installations, the small size of the lamps, ease of installation, and optimal adjustment to your needs are the feature of LED lighting. Adjustable light intensity and the possibility of having a colour border allow for the implementation of an individual project following users’ preferences.

Important wardrobe requirements …

Small wardrobes are primarily for storing clothes. Lighting is a real challenge here. The best way to illuminate a wardrobe is with overhead spotlighting. However, LED spotlighting for clothes hanging spaces and shelves cause that the light to be focused in small areas. So, aesthetically integrated LED strips are needed to ensure good visibility even in the most challenging places.

Which LED strips for walk-in wardrobes and dressing rooms?

A large wardrobe means more space to check out your outfit in a mirror. Large wardrobes are not only shelves and hanging rails with clothes on them. More and more often, these are also places for folding clothes, ironing and checking clothes for marks and staines. For this you need a dedicated lighting.

An intense source placed in the middle of the wardrobe – although it provides adequate and even visibility over the area it is insufficient. To provide a more even and accurate type of light for this area LED strip lights are needed.

The lighting of individual drawers or shelves is beneficial when selecting clothes. When setting the parameters, the key is to choose the correct intensity and colour of LED lighting.

When you wanted to achieve the correct temperature colour and shade for area it was challenging. Now it is easier with the new range of Super Slim Neon Flex LED Strip lighting.

How to select the correct LED strip light – our guide for newbies.

LED strips are a real revolution. A simple solution, introduced just a few years ago, which has dominated the lighting market to this day. Currently, stores offer a multitude of solutions. No wonder that customers are increasingly asking how to choose the correct LED strip and what to pay special attention to before buying.

Everyone who wanted to create a certain mood in an area faced the same dilemma. Which variant should be chosen to meet their expectations? Although all LED strips look very similar they provide completely different effects. To choose the right product, before buying, you should ask yourself these questions:

What type of light should the LED strip give.

What length of LED strip will be appropriate?

The density of LED chips required.

How will the LED strip be mounted?

Intensity, hue and colour needed?

As with any type of lighting, when choosing an LED strip, you should answer the question what effect you want to achieve. Is it meant to highlight a decorative element? Or maybe provide an atmospheric uniform light? Or strong main lighting with an added multi-colour effect? The intensity, colour and colour temperature are the basic criteria for choosing LED strips. The entire installation can also be affected by the selection of power supply for example the brighter LED strip do require a more power supply than the coloured strips. You will not get full light intensity if you use do not use the correct power supply.

We can advise you which power supply you will need for which strip light.

Change your mood with one click

Does the lighting always have to be the same? In addition to single-colour LED strips, there are also those that dynamically change colours. White, red and green are the most popular colours. By combining these colours, other colours can be obtained. The unique properties of RGB LED strips (red, green, blue) allow you to bring any mood into the interior. With one click, we can change the nature of the entire room, and thanks to the use of controllers, changes can take place automatically.

The length of the tape

The undeniable advantage of LED strips is the possibility of choosing an individual lighting length. Linear light under the ceiling. A romantic effect emphasizing the decorative elements. Warming the character of the room. Thanks to LED strips, you can choose the size of lighting to suit your needs. Thanks to the modular design of the strip, you can choose a length of lighting to suit your need.

The density of the LED chips.

The light intensity depends on the density of the LEDs. The greater their number, the more even illumination will be, at the expense of the amount of energy consumed by the LED strip (althouh heat will never be a problem). The most common solution is to use a density of 60 LED chips per meter, but if you want very good uniformity, it is best to select a strip with a density of 180 LED / m.

Mounting method

The installation of LED strips is very simple. Thanks to adhesive backing this solution does not require additional assembly elements. LED strips can be glued directly to the surface or mounted in special prepared grooves for a more integrated look. Due to their simple structure and small dimensions, they are very durable and resistant to mechanical damage. They also comply with European safety standards. are also safe to use. The tape with a silicone coating is resistant to moisture.

Remember about the power supply.

When buying LED lighting, it is worth noting that the LED strip is important, but not the only element. It is necessary to remember about the LED power supply which must be of the appropriate quality. LED strips are most often sold in rolls of five meters.

It is difficult to imagine a room being lit without the use of LED strips. It is an exceptionally easy-to-install solution that can provide intense and multi-coloured mood lighting in every room. LED lighting uses very little electricity which is important nowadays.

When your LED strip light might work not as expected.

Faulty transformer.

The technical issues with the product accessories have been recognised as the second important reason for the LED strip lights issues. For the most common cases, the LED strip lights require the transformer having current either 12V or 24V. The supply voltage used addresses directly the length of the strip (12V transformer can supply well the strip length up to 3 meters).
When you suspect your brand-new LED strip is not working as it should, especially when the cheap model of transformer is selected.
Should you waste your money for a not economically viable solution?

Faulty or not correct wired connections.

The LED strips are quite delicate; even when considered as elastic, it is relatively easy to damage them. It might happen through the FPC board disintegration, where the current supply wire can break down. It will make the strip not lighting at all. The same effect is caused by the broken-down solder connections, especially those between wires and the strip. The small break and in the circuit and as a result the strip does not work.

Serial connection between LED strips

LED strip lights can be applied in a variety of places in your home or office. Sometimes your installation may require a lengthy LED line, where the serial connection connects the several strip pieces. You ought to remember then, that the current-voltage is not identical throughout the entire strip length. The furthers from the transformer/supply the more voltage dropdown, and in consequence, the chips at the very end of the long strip will light weaker.

To solve it, you do not need to connect supply or transformer signal to every single piece of the strip, however in a smart way you could supply the strip length from their two ends.

The LED strip failure because of the moisture working environment.

Sometimes the LED strip will wear and tear quicker than expected. It happens quite often with the strip that is in the bathroom/kitchen where usually the level of moisture is higher compared to other rooms.

To prevent too much wear and tear, we will recommend using the plastic profiles or especially extruded LED strip that meets the IP65+ standards.

Recommendations to make your living room LED strip lighting outstanding.

When concerning the glowing interior design, there is so much to do with making the entire exceptional living room just by lighting it appropriately. We will separate this post into two parts for your convenience, where there is independent advice for the ceiling and the one for the walls.

LED strip lights for the living room ceiling.
Quite often for the contemporary living room, a specific ceiling shape and format, formed of the angled and modelled plasterboard. Using the LED strip for the living room will make the entire design consistent, especially you have selected an open plan kitchen aligned to your home modern interior decoration. The open plan is usually in principle integrated with your living room; thus, this creates one big open area where it designs should orchestrate with each other.
LED strip lighting is typically used for decoration; if your living room is lit with ceiling lights, you can also install supplemental LED strip lighting. Using LED strip lights and other lighting types will make your living room feel different and more layered.
When you wish to keep your living room’s comfort and relaxed feeling, keep the white lighting to the minimum and use a small amount of soft yellow lighting for a home sweet home touch. On the other side should you be a party animal, with LED strip lights for the living room you can create an RGB based lighting effects that will please your guests during the baby shower or a barbeque.
LED strip lights being used to build some indirect ambient lighting at the recessed ceiling level can replace the chandeliers and provide both – the ambient and the main lighting for the room.
OK, so let’s find out what exact LED strip types will fit into your glamorous living room:
As for the strip itself, we recommend the Neonica LED strip 5630 350 with Osram Duris E5.

Why? The reason for that is that all Neonica LED strips are dimmable (i.e. the LED chips are dimmable to be exact). So, as the result of that selection, you could be quite flexible, i.e. using the LED strip as the leading light when required and dim it when there is a need for more subtle lighting for living room.
Attaching the LED strip directly to the recessed plasterboard is always a tricky thing. Even when a strong adhesive double tape is used, an LED strip attached that way will fall over time. To prevent that we always recommend using the profile. And.. with the flexibility of the plasterboard, you can create the miracle lighting for your living room. You can use Architectural LED Alu profile KOZEL that is recessed and looks similar to the LED lamp. When you wish anything more discrete at the ceiling level, you can use the LED Alu profile MICRO attached to the recessed side of the plasterboard (concealed in the angle) or entirely recessed LED Alu profile MICRO-K.

You could do a lot with the ceiling, however, when you need more light in a room or an attractive accent to the design of the ceiling, walls, recessed shelves/TV backspace or a living room furniture, then consider building some indirect LED lighting. Recessed lighting and LED strips are modern and elegant, supplementary lighting that doesn’t take up space like more traditional lighting fixtures do.

LED strip lights for the living room walls, recessed shelves, furniture and decorations.
When concerning the glowing interior design, there is so much to do with making the real exceptional living room just by lighting it appropriately. We will separate this post into two parts for your convenience, where there is separate advice for the ceiling and the one for the walls.
There are so many different ideas for indirect LED lighting on the walls or their recessed elements. All of which depends on the size and function of the room. You can illuminate the dark corners, focus on a work of art on the wall or create beautiful lighting effects behind the sofa for dramatic effect. Indirect lighting illuminates like a rail along with the ceiling and is unobtrusive when not turned on.
Indirect LED wall lighting works perfectly. It brings magical effects and a touch of creativity to modern design. Modern technology that combines LED strip with the aluminium light profiles allow you to use a more flexible way of recessed lighting, all with energy-efficient properties. You can create beautiful designs and impress visitors with a fascinating combination of the central ceiling and ambient wall lighting.
So, what specific ideas you could implement to your brand-new living room walls?
TV Background Wall/Recess
The TV background wall is a critical part of the decoration of a living room. LED strip lighting is a perfect selection to make this area stand out. This will not only improve the appearance of the space but also may protect your eyesight. Strip lighting for this area should orchestrate the living room’s general outfit, yet, we recommend that even the weak in output LED strip to be additionally dimmed, to achieve a subtle effect of ambient lighting that would not distract your eyes during Premier Ligue or a movie.

Attaching or recessing into furniture.
So popular recessed shelves, build in corner pillars, angled kitchen space separations, they all can look even more glamour when properly lighten. The same as for the TV background wall, we would recommend the subtle lighting, not distracting the eyes… unless you would like to make a presentation of some furniture element.

So, what we recommend?
There are various low lighting output strips such as NEONICA LED Strip 2216 300 LED CRI 90+ and to spice it up we shall admit that can be ordered in a specific colour – i.e. red or blue! However, when you would like to mingle between the white light and RGB, it is fair enough to use: Neonica LED strip RGB+W 600 with Osram Duris E3

We would still have the same statement for the profiles – when can get the profile used, use it! It will make your entire lighting installation reliable over many years, and the LED strip would not fall over time and wear of the adhesive tape. Also, the profile would absorb the amount of heat usually given away by the LED strip. As the profiles’ selection might be as wide as the shape and format of your furniture or recessed wall and … your imagination, please only find below the link to the entire categories of the profiles: https://ledme.co.uk/category/profiles/.

Three LED lighting ideas to enhance your modern kitchen design. Part III

III. Floor Cabinet Lights

LED strip lights are, by all means, very flexible. Imagine you can create a magic kitchen outfit by providing the lighting lines from the bottom or some specific furniture parts. For example, you could install LED strip lights at the floor cabinets that would be echoing the lights in the top cabinets or wall compartments.
For this part of the kitchen installation, we would recommend adding decorative lighting, as too strong lights from the floor level could seriously blind and distract.
So, our recommendation for the floor/bottom furniture level might be:
Neonica LED strip RGB+W 600 with Osram Duris E3 where you would have control and selection when you wish to have a white or colour lighting.

Or
Some low to middle output white (in yellow light 3000K or daylight 4000K) LED strip, for example:
NEONICA LED Strip 2216 300 LED CRI 90+

The kitchen furniture’s bottom line is always more water and moisture receptive, so using an IP68 waterproof strip or a protective profile is a necessity rather than a convenience.
For the bottom line of the furniture, the best profile might be surface mounted:
LED Alu profile MICRO or its recessed equivalent: LED Alu profile MICRO-K

Those two profiles, because of their small sizes, can be concealed within the cabinets’ bottoms.
The other interesting option might be lighting with the LED strip the furniture corners, by for example using the corner 45 deg profiles:

Alternatively, you can think of settling the lighting profiles in the floor void, and then you can use the same low to middle output strip combined with the heavy-duty architectural profile for example:
LED Alu profile PDS4 or LED Alu profile P5 (Deep recessed)

Conclusion:
There are plenty of options for using the LED strip lights for the modern or classic kitchen design. Please bear in mind that what we present here are only suggestions, and you might have a completely different perspective.
Please contact us before placing an order every time you are unsure what to select, and we will be more than happy to help.

Three perfect LED lighting ideas that makes your kitchen glow. Part II

II. Above the Cabinets

For some kitchen designs, there might be cabinets placed up to the ceiling level. However, to enhance your lighting, you can install the LED strip light above them in the joint. Again, when advising you which LED strip to choose, you should rely on your personal preferences where the criteria should be:

A. If the above cabinet lighting should be the main lighting in the kitchen or just the ambient one?
B. Which colour temperature would you prefer (usually available daylight white 4000K or bulb-light 3000K, or any specific colour when choosing top cabinet)?

As at the ceiling level, you might have less moisture, compared to the bottom cabinet level. The wet is absorbed by extractor anyway, so you can without any hassle think of using the IP20 strip for the standard ceiling installation.
However, when thinking of the LED strip as the main light, we advise you to select the more robust output strips, comparing for that used for the above the cabinets. It might be, for example:
Neonica LED strip 5630 350 with Osram Duris E5

Quite often, especially for the larger kitchens, there is a dining table in the middle with the separate lamps handing from this part of the ceiling. If this happens with your case, you do not need intense ceiling lighting, thus above the cabinets it might be excellent and classy to get just the ambient, subtle LED strip lights. It might be, for example:

Neonica LED strip RGB+W 600 with Osram Duris E3

Thus, with this last strip, you can choose white or RGB lights to create the ambient climate and non-disturbing lighting by the ceiling space.

We always recommend using profiles to conceal the LED strip. This is due to the aesthetic reason, but also the aluminium profile will absorb the heat from the strip. The matt cover profile provides the consistent line of light with no visual dots (i.e. LED chips).

For this specific application we would primarily recommend the range of the recessed profiles:

LED Alu profile MICRO-K

Or even the wide, recessed profile:

LED Alu profile P14 (Recessed wide)

Three essential LED lighting concepts for your modern kitchen design. Part I

How to Choose LED Strip Lights for Kitchen Cabinets
You have selected an open plan kitchen aligned to your home modern interior decoration. The open plan is usually in principle integrated with your living room; thus, this creates one big open area where it designs should orchestrate with each other.
Many people are paying attention to the kitchen design, trying out different ways to decorate it. How about yourself? Do you want to make your kitchen warmer, more vibrant, or unique? It’s easy. You only need LED strip lights placed near your cabinets, or by the ceiling, or in the plinth to transform your kitchen. Let’s find out together; how could it be?

I. Under the Cabinets
If the kitchen has a row of wall cabinets, many people use to stick the LED lights along their bottom or the kitchen console table. Albeit you can attach the LED strip directly to the cabinet, using the double side tape, we advise not to do so due to the following reasons:
• The glue on the adhesive tape could wear over time, so your LED strip falls.
• The strip, albeit looks solid is the electrical equipment; most of the popular strips are IP20 rated (you can get water-resistant one, yet it is quite expensive). Please remember that the kitchen is rather a wet environment.
• The LED strip, like every single electric equipment, generates and transfers over the heat. It is no sound when this heat is dispersed throughout a delicate front of the kitchen cabinets.
So, to prevent that, you ought to consider placing our LED strip inside the profile with the cover. As the strip selection is slightly more complicated than the profile, we will advise you in a few moments which LED strip to choose. For now, we’d like to focus on appropriate profiles.
So, depending on your kitchen cabinets shape and format and design, you may choose from recessed or surface-assembled profiles:
For recessed profiles we recommend:

Recessed Slim Profile or Recessed Wide Profile both with matt or transparent cover.

For surface-mounted, the perfect fit might be:

Micro Profile, Surface-Mounted Profile or PSD 4 Surface-Mounted Profile

So, as all those profiles can accommodate the standard 8mm or 10 mm width strip, it is time to suggest the kind of LED strip optimal to use.

Criterium #1 – RGB or White?
Of course, it might be yours, utterly different preference, and we’ve seen kitchens with the aggressive violet that lights directly into the hardtop, but…
Criterium #2 Main lighting or the additional one?
We believe that the kitchen lighting can be decorative, yet it should provide enough lighting quality for preparing meals on the hardtop.
So, we recommend medium power LED strip lights in white with the very high CRI (please read another post about CRI)

For example: NEONICA LED Strip 2216 600 LED CRI 90+ or NEONICA LED Strip 2216 900 LED CRI 90+

You can select for both models if this will be more daytime white (4000k) or more yellow – traditional bulb light (3000k) or concerning the length of the profile and your installation specifics

However, if you need just a decorative function of the LED strip only, please consider using:

NEONICA LED Strip 2216 300 LED CRI 90+ or Neonica LED strip RGB+W 600 with Osram Duris E3 when you wish to combine the RGB strip with the white one.

So, you might have plenty of options. We’d love to hear from you. No inquiry too small. For any commercial-free of charge advice, please contact us via chat, social media, email or over the phone!

In the second part, we will tell you how to select the LED strips when you wish to have them over the kitchen cabinets.

Neonica – LED strip lights made in Poland

The majority of the LED strip lights that are supplied throughout Europe are of the Asian origin but the Neonica. The complete manufacturing is based in Central Poland! Yes, it is true. Let’s have a closer look at the manufacturing facility.

LED strip in principle consists of the LED chips and resistors placed on the special FPC board and connected through the 12/24V transformer (sometimes directly). Neonica has the supply agreements with leading LED chips manufacturers – i.e. CREE and OSRAM, this has permanent access to the highest quality of the raw components and their products are thoroughly tested both in their own and LED chips manufacturers’ labs. All products are compliant to the highest industry standards. The manufacturing processes address the H&S, and all environmental protection standards and the products have all necessary compulsory certificates and meet Polish and the EU regulations.

The manufacturing process itself requires quite an expensive machinery and specific know-how. There are only a few manufacturers of the LED strip lights in Europe.

Fancy having a look at how they manufacture and what is after the factory gateway? Feel free to see the video clip below.
